What is the QHD or Quad High Definition? It is a name or acronym for a type of monitor resolution that is four times pixel-dense as HD resolution. Don’t mix HD resolution with FUL HD. The HD resolution is 720p while FULL HD resolution is 1080p. So the QHD is simply four times pixel-dense as HD resolution, and it’s available in standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

QHD resolution is Not the same as 4K resolution, QHD vs. 4K
The fact that both names Quad and 4k both imply four-times as much, but this is not the case because 4k resolution is much more pixel-dense than QHD is. For example, 4K resolution also commonly referred to as UHD or Ultra HD has whooping 8,294,400 pixels while QHD has 3,686,400 pixels.
To calculate pixel density, you merely multiply the horizontal and vertical pixels as resolution already implies, for example, 2560 x 1440 = 3,686,400 pixels.
QHD/WQHD/1440p in Gaming
QHD resolution is quite popular for gaming because it’s not that resource-hungry as 4k. In high-end setups, you can even achieve 144 FPS + on QHD/WQHD/1440p gaming resolutions so gamers can enjoy buttery-smooth gameplay on their 144Hz or more gaming monitors.
Keep in mind that running QHD resolution on the latest triple-A titles requires powerfull hardware because it is really demanding, especially on high or ultra graphics settings.
Bottleneck behavior in QHD/WQHD/1440p Gaming
What is a cool and interesting fact about GPU bottlenecking behavior is the fact that the higher you go with the resolution settings, the less stress your CPU will receive? That means the higher your resolution, the less your CPU is bottlenecking your Graphics card if you have any bottleneck whatsoever.
The reason for this is that on the lower resolution, you get more frames per second and more frames per second require more CPU calculations. The bottleneck is not really defined by resolution settings but frames per second. So the more frames per second you can achieve, the more your CPU must work for, and the more chance you have your CPU is bottlenecking your Graphics card.

QHD is available on so many devices. Almost any smart device with a screen can have this resolution. Computers, laptops, tablets, netbooks, and smartphones. QHD resolutions, especially on mobile devices, consume more power, so they need a bigger battery or else they run out of juice too soon.
