There is another trick fixing those messed up fonts in chrome you might have missed

| |

The other day I was messing around trying to optimize Windows 10 doing all kinds of stuff to it. Then I have noticed that my fonts in Chrome and other browser-based applications suddenly start looking kinda odd. Like they are missing smoothing and looking really rough.

After I have searched the internet for a solution and what may the cause because at the time I didn’t know that Windows 10 is the actual source of my problems. Other solutions were like uninstall chrome, reset all preferences and you know the usual stuff.

Then I remembered I have turned off all visual effect goodies in /control panel /system /advanced system settings /tab advanced /settings /visual effects /smooth edges of screen fonts and that is all you have to do to get your smooth fonts back.

The solution is plain and simple, and it’s funny how I missed that option so easily when trying to figure out what the problem was. Remember future me, next time you are trying different things in Windows at least read them what they mean.
