iBuyPower vs. Custom PC

| | , ,

iBUYPOWER, Inc. is a computer manufacturer focused on gaming PCs and esports gaming. The company was founded in 1998, and they offer custom desktop computers and gaming laptops. You can customize all the prebuilt PCs or build your own with Easy Builder. Their customization options are so broad that there is almost no advantage to build your system. Well, it doesn’t scratch that PC building itch, but it saves you a lot of hassle and still offers excellent value.

All prices and deals for comparison with iBuyPower systems were taken from www.newegg.com at the time being.

Price Comparison

Let’s compare some of the significant price points between iBuyPower and custom build PCs. There are three major price points. Entry level, midrange PC (which is best pick value vise) and high-end gaming machine. Note that high-end gaming PCs are not optimal for full HD or 1080p gaming. They should be used with 1440p, 4k or 144Hz monitors for that super smooth experience.

Entry Level Gaming System

iBuyPower cheapest build (on sale) $849 at the time being was iBuyPower Gaming Ayne, with Windows 10. Custom build with the same components (on sale Newegg) and with retail Windows 10 was $695.9. We saved $153.1, which is reasonable and less than I have expected.

Case Raidmax Alpha RGB Gaming Case $59.99
Processor Intel® Core™ i3-8100 Processor () $124.99
Motherboard ASRock Z390 PHANTOM GAMING 4 $124.99
Memory CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 3000 $63.99
Video Card MSI Radeon RX 560 2Gb $104.99
Power Supply CORSAIR TX-M Series 650W 80 PLUS GOLD $79.98
Processor Cooling Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite ML120L RGB $59.99
Hard Drive Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache $44.99 iDevastator 3 Gaming Combo with RGB Keyboard and Mouse $29.99
Operating System Windows 10 Home $109.99
Total with Retail windows 10 $695,9
Savings $153,1

On a note, I can’t recommend entry level build because of its poor graphics performance, but this issue is easily fixable. Just switch AMD RX 560 with AMD RX 590 or GTX 1070, and you will Immediately get some excellent gaming performance. This setup is also optimal for 1080p or full HD gaming. It should run 60 frames per second almost any game or even 144Hz e-sports titles with ease.

Mid Range Gaming System

That is what I call bread and butter of pc gaming. Those builds deliver stunning performance and great visuals. They are also the best bang for the buck. At the moment this is possible due to AMD RX 590, GTX 1070 and GTX 1660 ti. These graphics cards deliver some strong performance for the price, and they are optimal for 1080p gaming. So let’s see what iBuyPower offers us at this segment.

Conclusion

I recommend iBuyPower for those who don’t know how to build or don’t have time to develop their systems. You get a great looking system with RGB and even LCD side panel. Those features are top of the line and should be more than enough to impress any friend or even PC enthusiast.

iBuyPower provides proper value hassle-free, but it doesn’t scratch that itch for actually building your PC In any other case, iBuyPower is a way to go.
